The Auctions
2013 - ongoing
The Auctions is a limited series of live events that employ the form of an auction as a work of performance art. In collaboration with professional auctioneer Crystal Campbell, we present live auctions to art audiences in an attempt to sell the experience of the auction itself. The winning bidder receives a certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist, as the only proof of ownership of the work. The auctioneer is directed to raise the value of her performance through live selling tactics, crowd psychology and anecdotal narratives about her own professional worth and that of the artist.
